Your next job could come out of the silliest and unexpected of places.
Some years ago in Switzerland, I’d met a very nice woman, who also happened to be a relocating partner.
She was a writer, and while she was great at it, she’d been looking for a job in Switzerland for some years, with little success.
Now, I wasn’t a writer.
Hell, I hadn’t even secured my first job in Switzerland yet.
But because we’d hung out and I liked her, she stayed top of my mind.
And one day, I saw a job ad. They were looking for a writer. She came to mind.
So I sent it over to her. Why not? It took me 10 seconds tops.
8 days later, she was invited for a first round interview.
20 days later, she was invited for a second round interview.
14 days later… she was offered the job.
Opportunities can come out of the unlikeliest of places.
Don’t be so obsessed about connecting with the ‘right’ people.
Yes, I teach my clients how to connect with and learn from the people who are most likely to be able to open doors for you, or point you in the right direction.
You can’t do any of that if you’re not being genuine and visible.
But don’t restrict being genuine and visible to the people who ‘make sense’.
Because by showing up this way in all facets of your life, doors can open where you wouldn’t even expect them to exist.
In the silliest and unlikeliest of places.
